R.I.P. Nelson Mandela

THE EYES THAT CRIED FREEDOM

THE WORLD STANDS IN UNISON

WITH SOUTH AFRICA TODAY

THE MAN THEY NAMED MADIBI

HAS SADLY PASSED AWAY

A MAN WHO FOUGHT OPPRESSION

EQUALITY FOR HIS STATE

HAS CARVED HIS NAME WITHIN THE SOULS

OF THOSE WHO CHOSE TO HATE

THEIR MISSION WAS TO SILENCE

THE WRONGS HE WANTED RIGHT

A SIMPLE REQUEST FOR HIS PEOPLE

EQUALITY FOR BLACK & WHITE

HE WAS GIVEN A LIFE IMPRISONMENT

THEY THOUGHT THEY'D HEAR NO MORE

BUT NOTHING WAS GOING TO SILENCE

THE NUMBER OF FOUR TREBLE 6 FOUR

BEHIND THE WALLS OF THE ENEMY

HIS WORDS WOULD STILL BE HEARD

WHILST IGNORANT LEADERS ACROSS THE GLOBE

CONSIDERED HIS RIGHTS ABSURD

HIS WORDS CAME BACK TO HAUNT THEM

IN 90 HIS DREAM CAME TO PASS

HE WALKED AWAY FROM VICTOR VERSER

HIS PEOPLE HAD AMASSED

VISIBLE THROUGH THE BURNING SKIES

OF AFRICA THAT DAY

THE PEOPLE KNEW MANDELA WAS FREE

AND CHANGE WAS ON ITS WAY

TO HIS WORD THIS CHANGE DID COME

PERCEPTIONS TURNED TO RESPECT

FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO CHOSE TO RUN

IT WAS MANDELA THEY DID ELECT

FOR YEARS HE MADE THE DREAMS COME TRUE

A NEW SOUTH AFRICA WAS BORN

AND ON THIS DAY THE WORLD STANDS STILL

WITH DUE RESPECT WE MOURN

THE MEMORY OF AN ICON

THE MEMORY OF THIS MAN

WHO FOUGHT SO MANY BATTLES

FOR THE PEOPLE OF HIS LAND

HE CRIED THE TEARS OF FREEDOM

HE'LL CRY THOSE TEARS NO MORE

NELSON MANDELA, WE SALUTE YOU

AND EVERYTHING YOU STOOD FOR

REST IN PEACE MADIBI
